Interventions used in Therapy

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Is an understanding of how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected and how thinking errors and the environment impact these areas.

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is an understanding of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal skills. It also includes an understanding of feeling multiple different ways at once.

  • Solution-focused therapy is an understanding of different ways to be able to process problem-solving concerns.

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing interventions (EMDR) is an understanding of how the application of bilateral stimulation can help with concerns of negative beliefs. It can also help build a positive belief system. This intervention has been proven effective for clients who have experienced Trauma.

  • Polyvagal Theory is an understanding of how the autonomic nervous system (ANS) regulates our body’s response to perceived threats and safety. The theory emphasizes the vagus nerve’s evolution and its role in connecting the body and brain to facilitate social connection, emotional regulation, and adaptive responses to stress.

  • Shame Therapy is an understanding of shame being a painful emotion that arises when individuals believe they have fallen short of their own or societal standards, leading to feelings of guilt, self-loathing, and isolation. The aim is to identify and understand the sources and triggers of shame, enhance self-compassion and self-acceptance, and improve interpersonal relationships and social functioning.
